Assessment of Geriatric Journals Ranking Indicators Between Scimago and Journal Citation Reports (JCR)

Introduction: Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and  Scimago are two international journals' assessment data bases, that help the researchers to select the appropriate journals for publishing their papers. The aim of this study is the compare of Impact Factor of geriatrics journals those ranked in JCR, with SJR those ranked in SCImago since 2012 to 2014.
Method: This descriptive correlation study was done by Scientometrc survey. The sources of data collection were all ranking reports of geriatrics scientific journals from Thomson Reuters (JCR) and Scopus (SCImago). The sample size was 161 geriatrics scientific journals  ranked in JCR and in SCImago.
Results: 49 title of geriatrics scientific journals in JCR and 112 titles in SCImago were ranked. 38 journals were ranked by this tow international journals' assessment data bases. There was significant positive correlation between impact factor value and SJR of geriatric journals those indexed in Thomson Reuters and Scopus. (p<0/05).
Conclusion: Researchers in field of geriatrics can use two databases to select the appropriate journals.
