Abstract:   (21 Views)
Introduction: Elderly retired teachers experience psychological problems such as death anxiety and stress due to distancing themselves from work and previous mental and physical activities. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the reality therapy approach on death anxiety and stress in older adults retired teachers.
Methods: The research method was a quasi-experimental, pre-test, post-test design with a control group. The statistical population included all elderly retired teachers in Kerman city in the first half of 2024 AH, 30 people (15 in the experimental group and 15 in the control group) were selected by convenience sampling method and with informed consent. The data collection tools were the Lovibond-Volvibond stress questionnaire (1995) and Templar death anxiety questionnaire (1972). The reality therapy approach intervention was carried out in 8 60-minute sessions twice a week on the experimental group, and the control group did not receive any intervention. Data analysis was performed using descriptive tests (mean and standard deviation) and analysis of covariance using SPSS version 24. A P value of less than 0.05 was considered significant.
Results: In the variable of death anxiety, the mean and standard deviation of the experimental group in the pre-test were 11.87±30.04 and in the post-test were 7.15±2.12, and in the variable of stress, the mean and standard deviation of the experimental group in the pre-test were 14.93±2.60 and in the post-test were 8.06±2.65 (P <0.01).
Conclusion: Based on the findings of the study, the reality therapy approach can be used to reduce death anxiety and stress in elderly retired teachers.
