Introduction:The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of education on the prevention of elder abuse among the elderly in Tehran in 2023-2024 work method: This study was a semi-experimental design with control and intervention groups. Simple random sampling was used to select 90 eligible elderly participants, who were then divided into two groups: intervention and control. The intervention group participated in an educational program consisting of 8 sessions over 8 weeks, while the control group did not receive any educational program. The MMSE questionnaire was used to assess cognitive status, and only those with a score above 23 were included in the study. Also, the experience of elder abuse was measured using the Family Elder Abuse Survey Questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 27 software. Findings: The results showed that the mean score for elder abuse was similar in both groups before the intervention; however, after the intervention, the elder abuse score significantly decreased in the intervention group. Conclusion: The findings indicate that an empowerment-based educational program can effectively reduce elder abuse and improve the quality of life of elderly individuals. This intervention increases the awareness and self-confidence of the elderly, enabling them to identify and confront abuse, thereby enhancing their sense of independence.
