The Mediating Role of Relationships between Individuals in the Relationship between Resilience and Healthy Lifestyle among Older Adults Referred to Health Centers in the West of Isfahan Province

Introduction: The Growing Population Of Older Adults And Its Associated Consequences Have Made Identifying Factors That Promote Health And A Healthy Lifestyle A Priority For Healthcare Systems. Resilience, As An Important Psychological Capacity, May Facilitate Health-Promoting Behaviors By Enhancing Relationships Between Individuals. Therefore, This Study Aimed To Investigate The Relationship Between Resilience And Healthy Lifestyle Among Older Adults, With Emphasis On The Mediating Role Of Relationships Between Individuals, In Older Adults Referred To Health Centers In The Western Region Of Isfahan Province.
Methods: This Descriptive-Correlational Study Was Conducted Using Structural Equation Modeling. The Statistical Population Consisted Of Older Adults Referred To Health Centers In The Western Region Of Isfahan Province In 2026. A Total Of 388 Participants Were Selected Through Convenience Sampling. Data Were Collected Using The Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (Cd-Risc), The Healthy Lifestyle Questionnaire For Older Adults, And The Interpersonal Relationships Questionnaire. Data Analysis Was Performed Using Smartpls Software Version 3.2.8.
Results: The Findings Indicated That Resilience Had A Positive And Significant Effect On Relationships Between Individuals (Β = 0.364, P < 0.001) And On Healthy Lifestyle (Β = 0.103, P < 0.001). In Addition, Relationships Between Individuals Had A Positive And Significant Effect On Healthy Lifestyle (Β = 0.770, P < 0.001). The Results Of The Indirect Effects Analysis Further Demonstrated That Relationships Between Individuals Played A Significant Partial Mediating Role In The Association Between Resilience And Healthy Lifestyle (Β = 0.280, P < 0.01).
Conclusion: The Findings Suggest That Enhancing Resilience Can Improve Healthy Lifestyle Among Older Adults Both Directly And Indirectly Through Strengthening Relationships Between Individuals. Accordingly, Designing And Implementing Educational, Psychological, And Social Interventions Aimed At Enhancing Resilience And Promoting Relationships Between Individuals May Represent An Effective Strategy For Improving Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Among Older Adults And Enhancing The Quality Of Geriatric Care Services.
